Amsterdam is one of the standout examples of a great city trip for a reason. It is filled with beautiful parks, loads of places to eat and drink, and fascinating museums. All wrapped up in the unique Dutch culture and architecture, Amsterdam can be the perfect place for a short visit or group getaway.

Barcelona offers a unique mix of Spanish and Catalonian culture, alongside some of the best food and entertainment that you can find in Spain. The Barri Gòtic, or Gothic Quarter, offers some simply stunning architecture with a particular highlight being the world famous Sagrada Família church. Aside from the beautiful culture and architecture, Barcelona is also home to the internationally renowned FC Barcelona. Whether you’re a fan of football or culture, Barcelona is a must see.

There is no city quite like Venice. Perfect for a romantic holiday, the canals and sights of Venice have no rival. The massive Piazza San Marco is bordered by the imposing Doge’s Palace and the beautiful St. Marks’s cathedral, whose bell tower can be seen from anywhere in the city. Whether you’re on a gondola ride through the canals or eating the delicious cuisine, Venice is the place to go for an intimate city holiday.

The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, is a fantastic choice for a city holiday if you’re looking for a mix of culture and a vibrant nightlife. Vilnius offers a fascinating Old Town, one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Europe, known for its beautiful architecture and the Baroque masterpiece that is the St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church. With two clubbing districts just a short distance from each other Vilnius also has a bustling and active nightlife. The choices are many and varied, so take your pick!

The capital and biggest city in Greece, Athens is certainly a must see. As one of the World’s oldest cities, Athens offers a wealth of historic monuments and heritage sites. The Parthenon dominates the skyline of Athens on top of the ancient Acropolis and is a stunning example of Ancient Greek architecture. The wealth of ancient temples, monuments and museums, means that you will never be short of a new place to visit, making Athens an essential destination for anyone with an interest in history.

Now that you have some ideas for your next city break you can really make the best of your long weekends.
